The Hampton Roads Regional Jail is closely monitoring updates regarding COVID-19 also known as the coronavirus. The health and safety of those in our care and our staff members remains our top priority. In response, all onsite visitation for friends and family has been cancelled indefinitely. Professional visits, including attorney visits remains in effect.

VISITOR’S RULES

  • It is the policy of the Hampton Roads Regional Jail to ensure maximum visiting opportunities, limited only by facility schedules, space, emergencies, and inmate disciplinary status.

    Upon admission to this jail inmates are given the opportunity to create a visitors list of six (6) adults. Each inmate is responsible for notifying his/her family and friends if they are on the visitor list.

    All inmates assigned to general population are allowed one visit per week, not more than 30 minutes in duration, by family, friends, or other persons on the inmate’s visitor list.

    Visitation schedules are 7:30 P.M. to 10:30 P.M., Monday through Wednesday. There will be no visitation on holidays. The visitation times are determined by the inmate’s housing assignment. (See back of page for housing assignments)

    The following are available transportation options for visitors, at the visitors’ expense: Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) Bus scheduling contact number is 757-222-6100, TDD 757-722-8427 and taxi-cab services.

  • General Rules for At-Home Visits:

    Participation in video visitation is a privilege, not a right. Both visitors and inmates are expected to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner at all times during a video visit.

    Hampton Roads Regional Jail reserves the right to deny, cancel and or terminate a video visit prior to or during a video session based upon visitor or resident inmate misconduct. Hampton Roads Regional Jail also reserves the right to restrict the visitor from participating in all future use of the system. Violation of the rule(s) may also result in the suspension of physical (onsite) visitation as well. Continued rule(s) violations may result in permanently revoked video and onsite visitation.

    All family members/friends video visits are recorded and subject to electronic monitoring by Hampton Roads Regional Jail personnel. Your use of this video visitation system constitutes consent to this recording and monitoring. Attorney video visits will not be recorded or monitored.

    • Inmates are allowed unlimited At-Home Visits per week as scheduling and operation of the jail permits.
    • Former inmates are not permitted to visit for 30 days after their release.
    • Video visits may be canceled at any time. A credit voucher may be issued for unforeseen circumstances that result in the cancelation of an At-Home visit by the facility.
    • Once a visit has started and is canceled or terminated by the facility for failure to comply with visiting rules a credit voucher will not be issued.
    • Inmate availability is based on housing unit rules and/or disciplinary status to include security operations.

    To protect the privacy, interest, and security of Hampton Roads Regional Jail’s staff and inmates,

    1. Photographing of persons, images of inside the Hampton Roads Regional Jail or video recording is prohibited while visiting the facility and/or using video visitation.
    2. Provocative and or sexually suggestive clothing is prohibited.
    3. No unauthorized persons at the monitors.
    4. Children must be supervised at all times.
    5. Persons under the age of 18 must be supervised at all times.
    6. The displaying of genitalia, breasts and or buttocks is strictly prohibited

    Special Orders:

    All Restraining Orders and or Protection Orders are known to staff will be enforced.

    Scheduling & Availability:

    All visitors must schedule an appointment 24 hours in advance and must pay for each scheduled session prior to visitation at the following web site www.sccurustech.netividcom. All scheduled appointments are non-refundable.

    At-Home Visitation Hours: Monday- Sunday

    • 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
    • 2:30 PM – 6:45 PM
    • 7:30 PM – 10:45 PM

    At the time of scheduling, the visitor must be prepared to provide the following information:

    1. Inmate legal name and Jail ID number
    2. Valid state or federal official picture ID (i.e., driver’s license) (must be 18 years of age or older)
    3. Valid home address (family/friends only)
    4. Valid working telephone number
    5. Valid working email address.
    6. Attorney video visits:

    8. Valid state or federal official picture ID
    9. Must have a valid “BAR” card
    10. Office address
    11. Working email address.
    12. working telephone number

    All of the aforementioned items must be clear, legible, valid and working in order to be considered.

  • Inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated and will result in the suspension of visitation privileges.  Visitors under the influence of drugs or alcohol and visitors who attempt to smuggle contraband items (ie, drugs, alcohol, cell phones, or other unlawful items) will be criminally prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

    To protect the privacy, interest, and security of the Hampton Roads Regional, photographs/video recording of staff and inmates is strictly prohibited while visiting the facility.

    All visitors that are 16 years of age or older must present photo identification.  A parent or legal guardian must accompany visitors under 18 years of age.  All visitors must be included on the inmate’s approved visitation list (excluding children under the age of 18).

    Effective June 1, 2019

    The maximum number of visitors permitted at one time is three (3), to include children.  All children under the age of 18 must remain in the immediate vicinity of a parent or legal guardian.

    Dress Code

    A strict dress code has been established in order to provide the best visiting experience possible.  Clothing must be modest in appearance and may not be sexually suggestive. Visitors may not wear the following clothing items:

    • sleeveless shirts, tank tops, halter tops, tube tops;
    • garments with spaghetti straps, fishnet tops, strapless dresses,
    • clothing that is transparent or exposes the midriff, navel or cleavage;
    • spandex pants, leggings, jeggings, yoga pants, or other clothing that is not appropriate because of slits, rips or holes in the garment;
    • No slides, mules, flip flops, bedroom slippers or open toe shoes (except for medical issues shoes).

    No hats, scarves, caps, or any head coverings will be permitted. The only exception is religious headgear, which is subject to search.  Skirts, dresses, and shorts must not exceed six (6) inches above the kneecap. Female visitors must wear a bra. Visitors may be denied access to the visitation area for any dress deemed inappropriate.

  • Smoking is prohibited in or around the facility, except for inside your vehicle.  Anyone caught smoking in front of the lobby area will forfeit his/her visit.
